Who Are We?

Male Breast Cancer Support was established on the 1st January 2026 by Paul Steele, a breast cancer patient, to provide a dedicated resource for men navigating a condition that is often misunderstood as gender-specific.

Because men represent only 1% of the 57,000 to 59,000 annual breast cancer diagnoses in the UK, male patients frequently face unique feelings of isolation and embarrassment in traditional support settings.

Our Aims and Objectives

Emotional Support: To offer emotional support and a confidential space for the approximately 400 men diagnosed in each year.

Mental Health Guidance: To provide informed advice from trained mental health first aiders who understand the psychological impact of a male diagnosis.

Awareness and Education: To educate on recognising symptoms - such as chest lumps or nipple changes - encouraging early medical intervention.

Clinical Outreach: To ensure every breast cancer clinic in Scotland is equipped with Male Breast Cancer Support information leaflets so that support is accessible at the point of diagnosis.

MBC Support is currently a voluntary organisation registered with the Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector. The initiative is supported by a board of trustees and is actively working toward becoming a registered charity to expand its reach across the whole of UK.
