It has been a whirlwind few weeks for Male Breast Cancer Support, and I am buzzing with the progress we are making in getting the word out there.
In Your Hands: The Printed Press
First off, I was absolutely delighted to see our message of awareness reach the printed press! There is something incredibly powerful about seeing this cause in a physical newspaper—especially one distributed on public transport.
Knowing that commuters across the city are picking up their morning paper and seeing a headline about male breast cancer is a huge win. It’s about meeting people where they are and making sure that "#CheckYourChest" becomes a phrase every man is familiar with, even on his way to work.
On Your Airwaves: BBC Radio Scotland
The momentum didn’t stop there. I had the privilege of going live on BBC Radio Scotland to share my story and reach out to other men who have faced a similar diagnosis.
Speaking on the radio allows for a different kind of connection. It was an honor to use that platform to:
Reach out to the "1%": Reminding the men diagnosed each year that they aren't alone.
Break the Silence: Discussing the importance of early detection and overcoming the "embarrassment" that often comes with a male breast cancer diagnosis.
Build the Community: Letting listeners know that our support service is here and ready to help.
I am so grateful to the BBC team for the opportunity to spark this conversation across the country.
Listen Back: If you missed the live broadcast, you can listen to the segment below and hear more about why I am so passionate about building this support network.
