I am absolutely delighted and incredibly humbled to share some major news: our mission to raise awareness for male breast cancer has officially reached the debating chamber of the Scottish Parliament.

Following our recent press release, a motion was lodged in Holyrood titled "Glasgow Man Championing Male Breast Cancer Support." To see my name and the work of Male Breast Cancer Support recognised in a formal parliamentary motion is something I never could have imagined when I first started this. Even more heartening is the cross-party support the motion has received, with MSPs from across the political spectrum signing on to acknowledge the vital need for male-specific cancer support in Scotland.

Why This Matters

For too long, male breast cancer has been a "silent" illness. By bringing this conversation into the Scottish Parliament, we are:

  • Breaking the Stigma: Ensuring that breast cancer is seen as a disease that can affect anyone, regardless of gender.

  • Encouraging Early Detection: Reminding men that they have breast tissue too and that a quick check can save a life.

  • Securing a Voice: Making sure that the unique needs of male patients are considered at the highest levels of government.

I want to extend a massive thank you to the MSPs who have supported this motion. It’s a powerful reminder that when we share our stories, people listen and change happens.

We are just getting started. Let’s keep talking, keep checking, and keep supporting one another.
